Who we are
Ben Grunow is the founder of Hard Wood Workshop™ and the craftsman behind the products. Growing up, he loved to sail, hunt and fish and now has combined these passions with his engineering and construction background to create Hard Wood Workshop. HWW's products not only look fantastic and fit perfectly, but also increase the functionally of any vehicle and they are proudly made entirely in the U.S.A.. Ben's friends know him as a man obsessed with quality workmanship in all he undertakes. Once you install HWW products on your Jeep, we think you'll agree.
HWW has a few other ideas in the pipeline and are always open to new/custom ideas so please don’t be afraid to ask if you have specific ideas on any custom part for any vehicle, not only Jeeps. Life surrounds us with plastic and metal. Why not protect your Jeep and bring the beauty of natural wood with you wherever you go!
Ben came up with the (now Patent Pending) Jeep BedBoards™ idea one day after watching his kids climb in and out from the back of his topless ’07 JK rather than using the doors (does any kid?). His initial goal was to protect the sides of the Jeep, but soon after realized that they could serve other functions as well. Friends began to ask where they could get these great-looking boards, and HWW was born.
He made the first model of the BedBoards™ in his home workshop and since then, has expanded the operation to include models in African Mahogany (high gloss finish varnish), White Oak (satin finish varnish) and King Starboard (high density polymer in black) to suit the different colors and design schemes for all Jeeps from 2007-2016. See the Shop page for more information on the different materials we offer.
